Review Fix Exclusive Q & A: Michael Des Barres Part Six
Reviewfix.com - Was he associated with Led Zeppelin too? Is that the Danny Goldberg I’m thinking of?
Michael Des Barres - Yeah, he’s writing my autobiography, which is very exciting.
Reviewfix.com - When’s that going to be out?
Michael Des Barres - Right now, we just secured the greatest agent, a wonderful agent, and it’s called “Who Do You Want Me to Be,” and it covers, obviously, all of the wide breadth of the last 50 years of what I’ve gotten into, and he’s writing it because he’s known me since that time, which is many years and is a true friend, and I’m godfather to his children, and he’s a very accomplished man. He’s written the book on Kurt Cobain and he wrote “Bumping Into Geniuses” (about Ahmet Ertegun, co-founder of Atlantic Records). So he’s written many books, and I’m just so proud to have him write this story, which I could have written with him but predominately, it’s his view and others’ view of whatever I’ve done, and I’m going to turn that into a one-man show and actually tour with it.
Reviewfix.com – When you come to New York, we’ll definitely hype it up, and the book for sure. That sounds fantastic.
Michael Des Barres - In terms of other things Pam and I turned her book “I’m With The Band”into a TV series which we are pitching. Zooey Deschanel will play Pamela.
Reviewfix.com – So what form would that take? Is that a re-enactment of these events that happened?
Michael Des Barres - Kind of. It’s a fun, dramatic, it will be on cable, about the GTOs in ‘60s California and the cusp of the rock ‘n’ roll revolution, and other things. I’ve also played with different bands; I had the soul band that I loved to play with.
Reviewfix.com – Yeah, I saw that, I think, on your Web site. That was great. It sounded fantastic. Come to B.B. King’s in New York with that band.
Michael Des Barres – It’s difficult flying 12 people around. I got a lot of songs I’ve been writing. I’ve been working with Linda Perry’s crew. I’ll send you a copy soon.
Reviewfix.com – I’d appreciate it, I’d love it. I really appreciate the time you took today, really. It was so nice of you, a pleasure.
