Erik Hassle’s ‘Hurtful,’ Free I-Tunes Single of the Week Review

Born in Katrineholm, Sweden, Erik Hassle is a 21-year-old singer and composer who has recently flaunted his music throughout the United States. Realizing and learning about his passion at an early age, he concocts himself a style of pop, rock, and soul.

Hassle’s full length album, “Pieces,” was released on March 9, 2010. It contains his most famous hit single, “Hurtful,” that has been recreated into different versions and remixes. This song has also been broadcasted with multiple featured artists.

This particular track unleashes a large quantity of Hassle’s feelings and emotions. Along with these expressions, his voice gives off a natural charming and endearing melody that can easily send chills down one’s spine.

Even though the lyrics are heartfelt, meaningful, and true, they’re awfully cliché.

The repetitiveness of these words doesn’t make it any better.

Hassle could have picked more impressive words to explain his unhappiness, rather than using plain statements that have been heard in millions of other tunes.

Luckily, the background music was able to make up for the typical verses.

The drumming and electronic beats are calming and sweet, highly suitable for what Hassle sings about. Everything is accurately placed, without overpowering his voice.

“Hurtful” might not be at the top of the charts, but it does capture sensitivity that most people of Hassle’s age can relate to.

Hopefully the rest of “Pieces” contains a bunch of dynamic and effective lines that withstand the ones in this track.
