Review Fix How-To Series: Keeping Your ‘Do’ Perfect

A majority of people enjoy having their hair constantly cut, dyed, and/or styled, but some prefer doing this much more often than others. It’s great to groom yourself, but are the results from a salon always worth the cash that obsessors tend to spend? Without paying outrageous amounts, there are many different easy procedures people can do at home in order to keep their hair up to par. Here are a few tips on perfecting your do, not having to make the trip to your usual stylist.

1. WHENEVER YOU WASH YOUR HAIR, MAKE SURE YOU USE CONDITIONER.

Regardless of the length, all hair should contain some type of moisture. Without moisture, the hair may produce some sort of dandruff and/or fried look. Conditioner prevents those frustrating tangles and knots that give everybody a headache. What some people don’t know is that if you use conditioner all the time, and it happens to be ultra humid outside, the likeliness of a person’s hair to become frizzy gradually lessens.

2. PREVENT YOURSELF FROM BLEACHING YOUR HAIR.

Bleach is quite useful when a person has extremely dark hair and wants to change the color to something drastically different, but the damage may cause some regrets. No matter who you are or the texture of your hair, bleach will cause it to become dry and brittle. Bleach is a dangerous substance and if it’s done too often or incorrectly, hair will start to fall out.

3. AVOID USING HAIR PRODUCTS THAT HAVE ALCOHOL.

Gel, mouse, hair spray, etc. are fantastic to use in order to hold your hair in place when it’s formed into a particular style, but when purchasing these items, make sure to read the labeling on the back. Products that contain too much alcohol can cause hair to become dry, making a person eventually hate the style that they loved just a week ago. It isn’t necessarily bad to use hair products, but everybody should just be careful with what they use and how often they use it. There are many hair products out on the market; people are bound to figure out which ones work the best for them. Once you find that perfect item, avoid applying it directly to the scalp because it can possibly clog the pours on your head.

4. WHEN USING A BLOW DRYER, USE THE COOL SETTING.

It’s pretty obvious that the hotter a blow dryer is, the faster your hair will dry. This might be true, but using the cool setting is a much better option. Hot air is damaging and blow drying hair everyday will cause the texture to change. While blow drying, the best thing to do would to gently run your fingers and/or brush through your hair so tangles don’t get in the way. To speed up the process of drying your hair and if using a blow-dryer is a hassle in general, simply pat your hair dry with a towel and let the remaining dampness dry on its own.

5. HEALTHY LIFESTYLE = HEALTHY HAIR.

Believe it or not, the way a person treats their entire bodies will have an affect on the way their hair maintains and grows. Excessive stress, smoking, not exercising, not drinking enough water and not eating nutritiously will have a huge impact on the way hair produces. Getting enough sleep also does the hair good. If you take care of what’s important, expect your hair to be perfect.
