Thoughts on the ‘Jonah Hex’ Trailer

When thinking of possible comic book-inspired films that should be released, DC’s “Jonah Hex” doesn’t immediately come to mind, and for good reason. A character that never seemed to break through his cult status, he may own the hearts of many rabid fans, but has never had the crossover ability of many other characters in the DC universe.

Nevertheless, that isn’t stopping Legendary Pictures from putting this one out there and with a solid actor the likes of Josh Brolin at the forefront, things don’t look too shabby.

Overall, it looks like an action-packed adventure that should be a good diversion from some of the bigger summer blockbusters out right now.

Set for a June 18 release, this film will be riding its way into theaters before you know it.

From the trailer alone, hardcore fans will notice from the trailer that Hex’s origin has been tampered with. Gone is the whole Indian tomahawk fight [that ended up giving him his scar] in favor of a more “Hollywood” beginning, as Hex’s family is killed by one of his only memorable villains, Quentin Turnbull, played by another talented actor, John Malkovich. This sets the scene for a ton of action and ironically sexiness, added by the good-looking, but thin on talent Megan Fox. In spite of her horrible performances over the past few years however, she looks like she can handle playing a dangerous western whore.

Go figure.

Regardless of this, the grouchy drunken confederate badass many fans love still seems to be there, as Brolin has enough one liners to satisfy even the most dedicated of Hex’s fans.

Because of that, this should be a more than interesting summer release.
