(New York, NY) – Marc Gras’s exceptional documentary TROMA IS SPANISH FOR TROMA is an official selection of the 43 Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantastic de Catalunya (SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, 2010) in Spain! It will have its world premiere on Friday, October 8, at 6 pm.

Troma has had a lasting impact throughout the world and Lloyd Kaufman’s work has had a profound influence on today’s mainstream filmmakers. This influence is especially strong in Spain where filmmakers Gras, Alex de la Iglesia, Santiago Segura and Nacho Cerda, among others, grew up watching such classics as THE TOXIC AVENGER and CLASS OF NUKE ‘EM HIGH. “Lloyd Kaufman and Troma have had a huge effect on all of us and I wanted to record that,” said Gras.

TROMA IS SPANISH FOR TROMA offers insightful and entertaining interviews with Spanish filmmakers and film critics, archived recordings of Kaufman and several Troma films, and music by the prominent psychobilly Spanish band Motorzombis. “Gras is an extremely talented filmmaker and documentarian. I feel so honored and inspired! He makes me feel like a natural Troman!” exclaimed Kaufman.
