Jackson Making an Impression on the Wii

Using the Nintendo Wii’s motion sensor, gamers can emulate Michael Jackson’s choreography set to 26 recordings from his repertoire in “Michael Jackson: The Experience.” Along with the Wii version, it’s also available for the handheld Nintendo DS and Sony PSP.

“There is arguably no better dancer than Michael Jackson, and the development team in Paris definitely kept that in mind,” said Michael Beadle, Ubisoft’s associate public-relations director. “They worked with Travis Payne – choreographer for [Jackson’s] “This Is It” – and other choreographers to help really put MJ’s moves into the game…and for those who may be struggling a bit with some of the more challenging moves, there is a Michael Jackson School Mode, where dancers break down via video lessons how to execute the more difficult moves.”

A Ubisoft press release described “Michael Jackson: The Experience” as “family entertainment at its best,” which Beadle said gives it a broad demographic. “Parents…are the ones who grew up with Michael Jackson,” he said, “and we know that they are excited to share his music and moves with their children.”

Revamps of the game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which use the Move and Kinect sensors, will arrive in stores early next year.
