HABITS DEBUT ALBUM STAYS AT #1 ON BILLBOARD HEATSEEKERS CHART FOR 3rd WEEK IN A ROW – IN ADVANCE OF 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY ON MARCH 23rd

“ANIMAL” – RIAA gold #1 Hot AC and #1 Alternative debut single passes 1.5 million sales mark – “1983” is new single and video

(New York, NY) Mercury Records group Neon Trees moves into their 3rd consecutive week at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, with their debut album HABITS, rolling into snow-bound New Y3ork City for a Thursday night performance on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (January 13th, performing the new single “1983”), followed by their first headlining date at prestigious Webster Hall, Friday night, January 14th. Four nights later, the band is in sunny L.A. to perform “1983” on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The timing couldn’t be better to announce Neon Trees next major tour assignment in the spring, as they head out for three weeks of shows with My Chemical Romance, beginning April 1st at Roseland Theatre in Portland, Oregon, working their way across North America to Terminal 5 in New York on April 23rd. (Please see complete itinerary below.) Prior to the MCR tour, Neon Trees departs at the end of January for a month of European concerts in Germany, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Paris, Brussels, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, and London. They tour in support of the European release of HABITS on February 21st.

March 23rd marks the one-year anniversary of the release of HABITS, which spun off Neon Trees’ massive RIAA gold debut single “Animal” – #1 Alternative and #1 Hot AC, with sales surpassing 1.5 million to date. “Animal” stays inside the Top 40 at #24 on the Hot 100 this week, in its 31st week on the big chart.

“1983” is the newest single pick from HABITS. The promo video for “1983,” which premiered on #1 music site VEVO, is also airing on mtvU and FUSE. The clip was directed on location in Santa Ana, California by Paul Coy Allen, best known for the series of videos he directed for Timbaland’s Shock Value 2 album, “Morning After Dark” (featuring Soshy & Nelly Furtado), “Say Something” (featuring Drake), and “If We Ever Meet Again” (featuring Katy Perry).

It has been a busy few months for Neon Trees, starting on November 15th, when bandmates Tyler Glenn and Elaine Bradley guested on the 36th edition of Live from Daryl’s House, the free monthly webcast show. They joined host Daryl Hall for a six-song set that included “Adult Education” and “Head Above Water,” from the classic Hall & Oates album, Private Eyes. Daryl and the band also performed four songs from HABITS, including “Animal,” “1983,” “Love and Affection,” and “Farther Down.” Check out the complete show, archived at http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/archive.html. Later in November, on the night before Thanksgiving, Neon Trees was among the first month’s guests on TBS’s new Conan with Conan O’Brien. While Absolute Punk named Neon Trees “The Best New Band of 2010!”

Last week, Neon Trees – Tyler Glenn (lead vocals, keyboards), Chris Allen (guitars), Branden Campbell (bass), Elaine Bradley (drums, vocals) – was featured on USA Today’s influential “On The Verge” page (“Maximum Wattage Beamed Out Of Provo, Utah”). They were also named Artist Of The Week at RollingStone.com, which had nothing but raves for their album: “HABITS is filled with Eighties pop meshed with bombastic alt-rock choruses – like the Killers playing backup for Duran Duran. ‘Your Surrender’ is a U2-style sing-along, ‘1983’ is a bratty dose of keyboard-driven pop punk and Hot 100 single ‘Animal’ is an irresistibly catchy lovesick dance tune.”
