Review Fix Announces Finalists for Holiday Game Giveaway

ReviewFix.com is happy to announce that Theresa Saponaro and Michael McManus are the finalists for its Holiday Game Giveaway.

For those that missed it, Review Fix is giving away a copy of “Age of Enigma,” for the Mac to the person who tells the best story of a game they’ve received for Christmas.

Below are the selected entries:

“The best video I’ve ever received as a Christmas gift is Heavy Rain. I received this gift on Christmas day of 2010. I was a bit reluctant to play it at first. However, upon my initial experience with it, I found that it was impossible to put down. I am usually all over the place with video games, as I tend to get bored easily. This game was impossible to get bored of. I found myself thinking about the game when I was unable to play it. Everything was put on hold as I completed the game in its entirety in about one weeks time. I suppose the psychological aspects hugely influenced my love of this game.

Being the parent of a child around the same age of the boy to be saved in the game, it had a huge impact on me emotionally. I felt a connection to the game. You know a game must be good when you feel your heart racing and at times maybe even shed a tear during game play.

From a game-play perspective, I enjoyed this game because every aspect of the story was interactive. I am not quite sure if there are many other games, if any at all out there that are as interactive as this game. What I loved most of all is that this game is different. Since my completion of this, I’ve been on a constant, yet unsuccessful search for a game that compares to this.”

“If you’re fortunate as a kid, there’s nothing like Christmas (well, maybe birthdays). Once a year, you wrote out your list to Mommy-and-Daddy Claus in hopes of receiving your favorite action figures, comic books, trading cards or whatever else you got your kicks from. For me, I saw Christmas as an opportunity to stack up on $50 video games I couldn’t afford with my lackluster allowance.

I’ve received many games over the years for Christmas, but none quite like Namco’s Tekken 2. I first played it at a classmate’s birthday party and was instantly hooked. It was the sole reason I wanted to get a PlayStation. As a kid, few things were more appealing than fighting with kung-fu kangaroos, luchadors in jaguar masks, grizzly bears, laser beam-shooting angels and velociraptors with boxing gloves. The interesting cast of characters drew me in, but the terrific gameplay made me a Tekken fan for life.

Before games like Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive and Bloody Roar, Tekken stood out from the crowd with its unique style featuring sidesteps, a complex throws system, ten-string combos and a load of unblockable moves. It was different from popular fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, but that’s what I loved about it. Until this day, Tekken 2 is one my favorite games of all-time.”

  1. Tekken, as a child, featured a whole new world for me where what I couldn’t do in real life I played there. My vote is for Michael
