Fleetwood Mac Tribute Album to Feature MGMT, New Pornographers, Best Coast
Fleetwood Mac is getting the indie treatment, as a tribute album featuring MGMT, the New Pornographers, Lykke Li and more is set to be released later this summer.
According to Direct Current, the release date of the as yet untitled tribute is August 14, though other outlets like Consequence of Sound and Rolling Stone are reporting September 14. The album will be released through Hear Music/Concord.
As opposed to many popular tribute albums, the lineup of this 15-track compilation is comprised greatly of alternative and indie acts, such as Best Coast with “Rhiannon,” The Kills with “Dreams” and Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons with “Landslide.” Each contributor also has complete artistic control over their interpretation of the cover song.
The album was produced by Randall Poster, the man behind the Buddy Holly tribute, Rave On.
