Mercury Records new artist Cris Cab moves into the next phase of his career with the October 9th release of his 5-track label debut EP Rise, which will include his current single “Good Girls (Don’t Grow On Trees)” featuring Big Sean. The single (released in June) was produced by Wyclef Jean and co-written by Pharrell Williams, both mentors of 19-year old Cris. The video for “Good Girls (Don’t Grow On Trees),” directed by Alex Moors (Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez, Miguel) premiered September 13th on #1 the music destination, VEVO.com. Rise is the prelude to Cris’ upcoming debut album, more details to be announced in the weeks and months ahead.

In support of Rise, Cris has scheduled a month-long, 22-city North American tour, presented by Steve Madden Music, opening October 6th at Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville, FL, running through November 2nd at The Social in Orlando, FL. (Please see full tour routing below.) En route, Cris will appear at The Gramercy Theater in New York on October 15th, preceded that day by a live performance on FOX 5’s Good Day New York. Cris’ previous New York appearance was a sold out show at Santos Party House in July, to herald the release of “Good Girls (Don’t Grow On Trees).”

In January 2012, Cris released his debut mixtape Echo Boom, featuring collaborations with Wyclef, Pharrell, Melanie Fiona, and Marc Roberge of O.A.R. With his early online releases and early social-media buzz, Cris’s YouTube page has acquired over 7.5 million views, a fete that not many artists can speak about without having a major label release. Cab’s videos have also been seen on outlets such as Artistdirect.com, Billboard.com, Cambio.com, Complex.com, EW.com, Fader.com, PerezHilton.com, TheInsider.com, and USMagazine.com and he’s already toured with the likes of T-Pain, Gym Glass Heroes, O.A.R., and Matisyahu, among others.

The son of first generation Cuban immigrants, Cris Cab is a natural-born singer who picked up the guitar at age 11, and began writing and recording his own songs on a 4-track machine he acquired at age 14. Influenced by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Buju Banton, Sting, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder (to name a few), Cris was “discovered” four years ago by Pharrell, now one of his biggest boosters. “I knew from the moment he grabbed his guitar and sang that first note,” Pharrell recalls, “that with the proper nurturing, that kid had it. He is merely warming up. This kid is just getting started.”
