Video Game Developer to Include Hundreds of Fans in Record Attempt

Fans join indie developer in attempting to break record for most playable characters in a video game

The developers of Pro Wrestling X want to include their fans in their upcoming release – and in the process, they hope to break a record for most playable characters in a video game.

“Everyone wants to be in a video game,” acknowledged producer Dave Wishnowski. “When we asked ourselves how we could best reward the fans who are backing Pro Wrestling X, the answer was clear: let’s put them in the game.”

Being developed for the PC platform, Pro Wrestling X is an active video game project on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter. Supporters can put their original character in the final release for as little as $50. If funding is successful, the game could ship with 800 playable characters or more. This would smash the record, believed to be Fire Pro Wrestling Returns with 327 playable characters.

“Fans will be able to use their roster spot to create a custom wrestler, put their own likeness in the game, or pay tribute to someone they admire,” said Wishnowski. “We’ll have a few rules about permissions and such, but we’ll give them as much freedom as we can. We can’t wait to see what our fans deliver.”

The Pro Wrestling X funding campaign ends on Friday, December 7.
