If Review Fix Held Their Own Slammy Awards

With the 2012 Slammy Awards over and done with, Review Fix picks their own winners. From The Most Shocking Moment of the Year, to Superstar of the Year and everything else in-between.

Review Fix Wrestling Guru Patrick Hickey Jr. breaks down his choices for the awards.

Tell Me I Just Did Not See That Award: CM Punk’s “Heel Turn”: This was a shocker because it changed the way Punk’s character would be written for the rest of the year. No longer the “cool” heel, Punk has become the withering, sneaky Hollywood Hogan-type. Regardless, when Punk took out The Rock, it was pretty damn awesome.

Comeback of the Year: Jerry Lawler: Was there any other choice? Lawler is wrestling royalty and for him to come back so fast after a heart attack was simply astounding. To see him run to accept his Slammy was a grand treat. He deserves this award.

Kiss of the Year: AJ Lee and John Cena: This was a no-brainer, as Lee’s relationship with Cena led to her betrayal of the former WWE champ and allows Dolph Ziggler to keep his Money in the Bank briefcase and some semblance of momentum.

Superstar of the Year: CM Punk: Was there ever any doubt here? If you’re champion for an entire year, regardless of how poorly you’ve been booked or written for, you are still the man.

LOL Moment of the Year: This was a tough one as there were plenty of hilarious moments this year. But when The Rock said John Cena’s cologne smelled like “beer, fruity pebbles and possum piss,” there weren’t any contenders left. Simply put, although he didn’t do much in the ring this year, The Rock was hilarious every time he picked up a mic.

Trending Now Hashtag of the Year: Sure, Zack Ryder’s popularity has waned significantly over the last few months, but the guy is the reason why the company pays attention to Twitter, Facebook and Youtube now. He deserves this award more than anyone.

Newcomer of the Year: Antonio Cesaro: Damien Sandow has a ton of potential, but Cesaro has it all. This guy has been under the radar for far too long. He is a future World champion.

Match of the Year: Rock vs. Cena: It doesn’t happen often that Cena gets beat cleanly and that he sells. When he does, the result is usually a fantastic one. This match was one of the best of Cena’s career and one that didn’t hurt him. Instead, it put the Rock over with younger fans who never got a chance to see him perform.
