WWE RAW Coverage: Zigs Instead of Zags

Aside from the return of a few former superstars including Ric Flair and Tommy Dreamer and the debut of Big E. Langston, this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW was rather mundane.

Cheap pops, job outs and semantics. That was this week’s episode in a nutshell.

The one instance when it appeared the show was going to finally get interesting, it fell apart. After Sheamus took out World Champ Big Show with a Brogue Kick, Dolph Ziggler ran down to the ring to cash in his money in the bank title opportunity.

John Cena had other things in mind as he stopped Ziggler in his tracks. He also turned what could have an epic moment into a flaccid one.

Matches:

Rey Mysterio w/ Sin Cara vs. Damien Sandow w/ Cody Rhodes: A good back and forth opener. Sandow was in control for the majority of the match but after a 619 and a Top Rope Splash, Mysterio was the victor.

Divas Champion Eve Torrez vs. Kaitlyn: A quick and dirty match that saw Kaitlyn earn the win with her Gutbuster finisher.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Tensai: Kingston made quick work of the monster, hitting the Trouble in Paradise for the win.

The Great Khali w/Natalya Niedhart vs. David Otunga: Sad to see a blue-chipper like Otunga get jobbed out by Khali, but that was the case after the Brain Chop.

JTG vs. Brodus Clay: JTG hit a sloppy Blockbuster and that was essentially all his offense. Clay finished JTG off with his trademark splash.

Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes: Another quick match that saw some seesaw action until Rhodes ended it with his Crossroads finisher.

Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal vs. Alberto Del Rio, The Miz and Tommy Dreamer w/Ricardo Rodriguez: All six guys worked hard and set up a few decent spots. But lets be real here, this was a gimmick match. This storyline is going nowhere, as it’s a poor attempt to turn Del Rio face. Truth be told, he used more kicks and was simply vicious. Dreamer won with his Dreamer DDT.

United States Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Ryback: After the two traded offense for a few minutes, Cesaro walked out on the match to earn Ryback the win via-count-out.

John Cena and Vikki Guerrero vs. Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee: After a few minutes, this turned into a one on one match between Ziggler and Cena. That match lasted only a few minutes before NXT’s Big E. Langston, flanked by AJ, hit the ring and decimated Cena. How many guys does AJ have in her coven?
