WWE RAW Coverage: Hell to Watch

This week’s RAW was a disaster.

R-Truth’s segment where he actually played salesperson for WWE Shop ultimately epitomized the show.

A failed sales pitch. The overdone and played-out contract signing segment proved it even more.

This episode of RAW was supposed to get you to buy Hell in a Cell, but with a large and wasteful card and a lack of intriguing and entertaining segments, the WWE dropped the ball in their last attempt to get their fans excited for what is usually one of the better annual WWE pay-per-views.

Matches:

United States Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Daniel Bryan: It was the best opening match on RAW in months, but it wasn’t amazing. Bryan and Ambrose traded signature and routine offense, but the United States Champion was the constant aggressor. Bryan got back into the bout with a nifty Mexican Surfboard, but Ambrose managed to eye gouge Bryan during the move. Although the match dragged at points, Ambrose showed off some nice maneuvers including a Chicken Wing Suplex. Bryan eventually got going offensively and after a slew of kicks, Bryan got the submission win with the Cross-face.

Santino Marella w/The Great Khali and Hornswoggle vs. Heath Slater w/ Drew MacIntyre and Jinder Mahal: Marella, garbed in an Elvis costume (RAW was in Memphis this week) hit Slater with the “Elvis” Cobra for the win.

Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler: Orton was in control until he went for a DDT on the ring apron, to the outside. From there Ziggler had a brief flurry, but Orton continued to dominate. Ziggler nearly won at one point with the Fameasser, but the WWE’s “Apex Predator” managed to slither free. A few seconds later, Orton hit a Capture Suplex on Ziggler and followed it up with his vintage DDT. Ziggler again nearly won with a beautiful dropkick, but Orton soon finished off Ziggler with the RKO.

Divas Champion AJ Lee and Tamina Snuka vs. Nikki and Brie Bella: This match was all Snuka. She dominated the twins and made the match watchable. Lee’s work in match was also sound. She’s easily the best heel in the Divas division in years. Brie Bella went on an offensive streak later in the match and after she took out Snuka, Brie nailed Lee with the X-Factor for the win.

Erik Rowan and Luke Harper w/Bray Wyatt vs. The Miz and Kofi Kingston: Harper decimated Miz throughout the match and while Kingston’s hot tag and Trouble in Paradise on Rowan changed the tempo of the match, a wonderful discus Clothesline from Harper got the Family the win. After the match Rowan crushed Miz with a Spinning Side Kick and Wyatt gave a sermon.

Big E. Langston vs. Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel w/Ryback and Paul Heyman: This match got thrown out early, but Langston hung in there until CM Punk could make the save with a kendo stick. The match was soon restarted as a tag team match.

CM Punk and Big E Langston vs. Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel and Ryback w/Paul Heyman: Langston was dominant and beat Axel with the Big Ending. Aside from that, Punk stared at Heyman and ran him out of the ring area.

Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger w/Zeb Colter vs. Tensai and Brodus Clay w/Naomi and Cameron: Cesaro set the table with a Giant Swing on Clay and Swagger finished him off with the Patriot Lock.

#1 Contenders Match for Tag Team title shot at Hell in an Cell: Jimmy and Jey Uso vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns: Best match of the night that saw both teams destroy each other all over the ring. After an Uso Superkick, Reigns countered, but the Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust were ringside and began to scuffle with The Shield. Soon enough, the match was thrown out as all three teams continued the fight.
