WWE RAW Coverage: Thank You For Being a Friend

Last week, the thought of Betty White on RAW was cringe-inducing.

But with a meaty card and plenty of storyline progression, this week’s RAW continues to push towards what looks to be a more than solid Elimination Chamber pay per view.

Lita’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, as well as the soft debut of the “Bulgarian Brute” were certainly cool as well. With more drama between The Shield and The Wyatt Family, there’s plenty of intrigue. For the first time in a months, there’s more than one or two feuds. From the bottom to the top of the card, there’s plenty of drama.

Matches:

Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes and Goldust vs. Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan: This was a crazy opening match. Both teams traded a plethora of offense, but Mysterio and friends were flying all over the place. After a wild TNA-like sequence, Wyatt tagged himself in and hit a monster running Sister Abigail for the win.

Santino Marella w/Emma vs. Fandango w/Summer Rae: A mess of a match that saw Fandango win via the Leg Drop. During the match The Miz made his way to announce table once again and complained about not being on the card. Sadly, that may have been the most interesting part of the encounter.

Christian and Sheamus vs. Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro w/Zeb Colter: At one point, Cesaro and Sheamus were incredibly physical. The European Elbows and Forearms thrown were stiff and a pleasure to watch. Cesaro continued to get the crowd going later with an awesome Giant Swing on Christian. Swagger (who used Luke Harper’s Gator Roll during the match) and Christian were solid in supporting roles as well. After a nice sequence that saw Christian eliminate Cesaro on the outside, Sheamus got the win with the Brogue Kick on Swagger.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio: Ziggler was the aggressor for most of the match until a jumping Arm Breaker and Super Kick gave Del Rio the win. After the win, Del Rio applied the Arm Bar until Batista hit the ring and eventually Powerbombed the Mexican Aristocrat through a table.

Jimmy and Jey Uso vs. Ryback and Curtis Axel: The Usos won easily thanks to their top rope Splash combo and with Billy Gunn’s “problems” after the match, this was a short but fun bout.

United States Champion Dean Ambrose w/Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins vs. Mark Henry: This was one of Ambrose’s best matches in a long time. In spite of the different styles, these two played well off one another. But just when it appeared that Henry had the title in hand, following a running Powerslam and his World’s Strongest Slam, Rollins interfered to get the match thrown out. After the bell, Reigns and company beat on Henry some more.

Divas Champion AJ Lee, Aksana and Alicia Foxx w/Tamina Snuka vs. Nikki and Brie Bella and Cameron w/ Eva Marie: A disaster of a match that ended when Cameron hit the Evenflow-esque DDT on Aksana for the win.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. John Cena:A 20-minute match between two legends on RAW capped a solid episode. Both fought off and countered signature offense the entire bout. After 15 mins of back and forth action, Orton eventually turned the tables on Cena when he hit a top rope modified DDT, but Cena quickly countered an Orton RKO into an STFU- that Orton escaped from. Orton continued the onslaught with an RKO after a missed Punt attempt, but Cena kicked out of that as well. Cena then caught an unsuspecting Orton with the AA, but Orton kicked out. But after Cena hit his top rope Rockerdropper on Orton, he followed it up with another Attitude Adjustment for the win.
