Eternal Warrior: Days of Steel #1 Preview: Could Be Special

“Eternal Warrior” is one of Valiant Comics most well known properties. It features a character that, as the title says, a warrior that is immortal and fights in many historic battles. The newest installment, “Eternal Warrior: Days of Steel,” seems to take the series in a new direction: midlife crises. At least that’s what the preview makes the story out to be.

This comic has the eternal warrior Gilad Anni-Padda start to question his existence. He is sick and tired of humans and doing killings for the Geomancer. He is seriously considering retirement or abandonment.

This may not be an original idea, but it can be a clever idea if done properly. This story can go in one of three ways. Gilad can either accept his faith and just do the Geomancer’s jobs; he can stop the Geomancer and his jobs or he can just complain all the day long while doing the Geomancer’s bidding. Either way, this story should amaze and surprise the reader in order to succeed.

The art is the only thing that’s certain. It is the high quality, well crafted art that Valiant has done wonderfully for years. Let’s hope this is not one of those great art/terrible story comics.

“Eternal Warrior: Days of Steel” has a lot to prove with a story that has been treaded before. It needs to do so carefully in order to make it not go into forgotten comic hell.
