NXT Coverage: The Neville-Zayn Saga Begins

Four entertaining matches made for a solid hour of NXT, but you have to wonder at this point why the show is consistently flooded with WWE jobbers and never-was-es. With Hideo Itami, Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Charlotte Flair and a host of other up and coming stars, the show would be so much better without any old, familiar faces.

Although fans are getting the beginning of a war between Zayn and Neville, the build up and execution is far too slow and features the wrong cast of characters. In the end, NXT remains a cool hour diversion on Thursdays, but it could be so much more if developed properly.

Matches:

NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Emma: Flair was in control throughout and despite a few signature maneuvers from Emma, Flair got the win with the Natural Selection.

Hideo Itami vs. Justin Gabriel: It wasn’t a one-of-a-kind performance, but Itami was solid, earning the win with the Double Stomp. After the match, Viktor and Konnor hit the ring and destroyed the Japanese star hitting the Fall of Man.

CJ Parker vs. Baron Corbin: Again, Corbin decimated Parker with the End of Days, quickly gaining another win.

Sami Zayn and NXT Champion Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd and Titus O’Neil: The match originally started out as Zayn and Neville trying to one-up each other, but once O’Neil and Kidd got rolling, they were more than a formidable tag team. Once Neville got in the ring he went on a tear, but once he appeared ready to hit the Red Arrow on Kidd, O’Neil threw him off the top, right into KIdd’s knees, while Zayn was unable to help his partner out. All Kidd had to do was roll over for the win.
