WWE RAW Coverage: Lacking Real Labor

This week’s RAW was a slow, plodding mess. There wasn’t one “real” match either, as every contest was full of interference and nonsense. With Nikki Bella’s segments throughout the show and Paul Heyman’s promo on Cena for his rematch against Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight title at Night of Champions as the only real angle/storyline development, this week’s episode of RAW lacked any real excitement.

Matches:

Antonio Cesaro and The Miz w/Damien Sandow vs. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler and United States Champion Sheamus: A decent match that saw Sandow interfere and get hit with the Zig-Zag. When Ziggler turned around Miz finished him off with the Skull-Crushing Finale.

Eva Marie, Rosa Mendez and Cameron vs. Layla, Summer Rae and Naomi: The match never got started and ended as all six Divas beat on each other.

The Big Show and Mark Henry vs. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan: This was Power vs. Power as Show and Henry traded blows with the younger and faster, but still gritty and strong Rowan and Harper. With Alexander Rusev and Lana on the outside watching Henry, there was an extra level of intrigue here. Just when Henry seemed to have the match ironed out with Harper in position for the World’s Strongest Slam, Rusev kicked him in the face to get the match thrown out.

Jack Swagger w/Zeb Colter vs. Curtis Axel: With Bo Dallas waiting on the ramp, Swagger quickly won with the Patriot Lock. After the bell, Dallas had some more fun at Swagger’s expense.

Titus O’Neil w/heath Slater vs. Adam Rose: After Slater got taken out by Rose’s “Bunny,” Rose won with the School Boy.

Alexander Rusev w/Lana vs. Zack Ryder: Samoan Drop, Super Kick, Accolade. Game over. After the match, Henry came back to get some revenge, but Rusev got out of the ring.

WWE Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso w/ Jey Uso vs. Goldust w/Stardust: The best singles match of the night and the only one that had a decent pace and storytelling. After some back and forth, Goldust got the win with The Final Cut. After the bell, Goldust and Stardust worked on Jey Uso’s already injured knee some more.

John Cena vs. Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Kane: A good match as all six competitors got to deliver some offense, even though Jericho sold quite a bit more. After Cena took out Kane with the Attitude Adjustment, Cena tagged in Reigns, who got the win with the Spear on the Big Red Machine. After the bell, Cena hit the AA on Rollins on the announce table.
