This episode of “The Walking Dead” was filled with gore and brutality. There were many intense and tragic moments that took place.

“Spend” was extremely character-driven. We got to see the value of the group as well as their contributions to Alexandria. Unfortunately, we got to see the true colors of several members from each side as well. It is safe to say that this was the most brutal episode to date. The way zombies were slaughtered and killed, as well as the loss of a member of the group, will make you turn away from the screen if you are squeamish.

There were several unfortunate events that took place as a result a member of the group is seriously injured and another brutally killed. It is obvious that Rick, Carol and Daryl have a plan in order to take over Alexandria. Now that the death of Deanna’s son will strike the community hard, their plan might be foiled and all hell could break lose. Even though Rick bears the uniform of the law in Alexandria, he is not the same person we were used to seeing when he was an actual cop back in season one. He has a plan to take over Alexandria and extinguish anyone from there who is weak.

There were several tragic moments that took place this episode, one of which involved Noah who was brutally eaten by walkers. The deaths this second half of the season have gone a step further than we are used to seeing in this series. There are more blood and guts, along with sadistic cannibalism taking place that involve the walkers.

There are several characters who are still struggling with their settlement in Alexandria, as well as PTSD. Abraham and Sasha show signs of struggling with reality. It will be interesting to see how their characters continue to react to the tragedies that continue to take place. Father Gabriel basically betrayed the group as he spills his guts to Deanna about not trusting them and that they are bad people. Unfortunately for him Maggie listened to the whole thing.

Overall, “Spend” was filled with tragedy. Now that there are two episodes left we will continue to see the developing plans of how Rick with take over Alexandria and the obstacles that he and the group will face. Will they survive or are the members of Alexandria not as weak as they seem? We will soon find out.
