NXT Power Rankings: Balor and Owens Bout Set, Dempsey Hungry

Although it was more of a tease to the WWE’s big show in Japan, this week’s NXT was still a decent show that had a cool enough main event to keep you glued to your TV.

Check out this week’s NXT Power Rankings to see how the crowded NXT title divisions are shaping up before the brand takes the action to Japan.

Honorable Mention: Baron Corbin: His win over Tucker Knight this past week on NXT was another quick one that does nothing for Corbin moving forward. Sure, his finisher is awesome, but what else can he do? What else does he bring to the table?

5: Bull Dempsey: He’s not in the ring, but he’s showing another side of himself that can only help him moving forward. A wrecking ball, he’s got the tools to be successful, but this comedic side may extend his career a few years.

4: The Vaudevillians: How long are these guys going to be kept out of the NXT Tag Team title scene? Easily with the best gimmick and polished in the ring and capable on the mic, these guys probably have the best main roster potential as a gimmick tag team. Their win over Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder was just another indication that they’ve outgrown NXT.

3: Samoa Joe: He wants that shot at Kevin Owens, but Finn Balor may get the NXT title before he ever gets his chance. Still the biggest name on the NXT roster, Joe’s participation in the promotion only helps them moving forward. Altough he may never get a shot at the NXT title, his first WWE appearance has got to be right around the corner.

2: Finn Balor: The three-part documentary series has done wonders in making Balor an even cooler performer than he already is. His match with Samoa Joe, Rhino and Owens this past week on NXT was also a solid primer for their epic battle on the fourth of July in Japan. Regardless of if he beats Kevin Owens or not, he will eventually be the NXT Champion and a star in the WWE.

1: Kevin Owens: He’s only been in the WWE for a few months, but it’s obvious he’s a guy that could have thrived here a while ago. It doesn’t matter if he has the NXT title or not, he’s a guy that has changed the landscape of NXT entirely and someone the WWE needs on the main roster as soon as possible.
