Past Always #5 Review: Tons of Questions

Home, no matter the form is important. Everyone needs a safe haven from the swirling chaos and responsibilities that surround them. For a group of time-travelers stuck out of their own time, that physical concept of home is paramount since it is all they have to hold onto. Then, just because you’re an android doesn’t mean you should sacrifice your life, does it?

The “Past Aways” in issue 5 of the entitled comic have a lot to contend with. Implosions both physical and emotional abound and this crew seems ill-equipped to deal with the fallout. Meanwhile, what happens when some unknown entity invades your home while you’re cleaning up one of your mistakes? What do you do then?

Writer, Matt Kindt brings these enigmas in a very matter-or-fact way to the reader. When you think of the laws of time or the space-time continuum unless you’re a diehard Star Trek or Piers Anthony fan your eyes may glaze over. After all when a person ventures into a comic-book world they’re looking for new adventures, not to be bogged down in someone’s dogma. Kindt does not bore you, but he does have you asking yourself if you messed up the only way of getting home, how do you cope? Better still, why would some unknown figure break into your home?

What did they take, what did they destroy, what did they do? Somehow Kindt will leave you wanting more to the point where you can’t wait for the trade paperback to be compiled.
