Legendary WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio will be featured in the upcoming PlayStation 4 wrestling game “5 Star Wrestling: ReGenesis,†Scotland-based developer Serious Parody announced today via a press release obtained by Review Fix.
“We here at Serious Parody have huge plans for ‘5 Star Wrestling,’ Serious Parody Founder and CEO Dan Hinkles wrote in the release, “and|signing the absolute greatest high flyer of all time, Rey Mysterio, is not only an incredible step in the right direction for our company but on a personal level, as a lifelong wrestling fan, it’s a dream come true to work with one of the very best wrestlers in history.
As part of a new promotion, the development studio also announced the 5 Star Wrestling: ReGenesis Tour, beginning Jan. 13, 2016, at the Newcastle Metro Arena.The tour will continue through Jan. 14 and 15 at the Sheffield Arena and Liverpool Echo Arena, respectively.
On the 14th, for the first time ever, Rey Mysterio himself will go up against another wrestling god: AJ Styles — a former IWGP and TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
“AJ Styles is arguably the greatest wrestler on the planet today. … To have him go one-Âon-Âone with Rey Mysterio… there honestly isn’t a bigger match that a wrestling promoter other than Vince McMahon himself could make right now. It’s never been possible before and who knows if it will ever happen again and I’m so excited to be able to give wrestling fans an opportunity to see this match,†Hinkles said.
Tickets for the events go on sale Thursday, Nov. 12 at 5StarWrestling.co.uk. A standard ticket will cost £30/$45, while floor seats will go for £45/$68. If you’re a big baller and an even bigger wrestling fan, the VIP package — which guarantees you a seat in the front two rows, an exclusive meet-and-greet with Rey Mysterio, and limited edition swag signed by every member of the 5 Star roster — can be purchased for £150/$227.
Fans are encouraged to keep checking the “5 Star Wrestling†Facebook page in the coming weeks for “several major announcements†relating to the video game and tour.
“We are aiming to smash records with the 5 Star Wrestling: ReGenesis Tour,†a statement on the press release reads. “These are by far the biggest wrestling shows that a UK promoter has ever hosted and we’ve signed an army of the best wrestlers from around the world to host 3 incredible nights of 5 Star Wrestling entertainment.â€
