WWE Royal Rumble 2016 Coverage: Triple H Wins WWE World Heavyweight Title

From AJ Styles’ debut and Triple H’s capturing of the WWE World Heavyweight title, the 2016 Royal Rumble was an awesome event thanks to the dominance of the Wyatt Family and four fantastic matches before the Rumble.

Matches:

Kickoff: Four Way Tag: Darren Young and Damien Sandow vs. The Dudley Boys: Bubba Ray and Devon Dudley vs. Jack Swagger and Mark Henry vs. The Ascension: Viktor and Konnor, Winners get into Royal Rumble Match: All four teams had their moments, but after the Dudley Boys had their opportunity to win foiled, thanks to a Patriot Lock from Swagger on Ray, Henry was able to get the pin on Viktor after the 3D.

Last Man Standing Match: Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens: This was a war from the start as Owens and Ambrose went all over the ring and outside. Ambrose had the early advantage, thanks to a Kendo Stick, but Owens hit the Cannonball that sent Ambrose through the barricade on the outside. Owens continued to dominate, thanks to steal chairs, but Ambrose’s signature Clothesline evened things up. Owens then managed to catch Ambrose in a Suicide Dive attempt and then drove him back first into the apron before throwing him into the ring steps. Ambrose fought back again and hit the Dirty Deeds following an Owens Super Kick. Ambrose then hit another Dirty Deeds, this time on a steel chair, but Owens was able to roll out of the ring, onto his feet before the ten-count. Ambrose wasn’t done yet though as he landed a Massive Top Rope Elbow on Owens, who was on a table on the outside. With the action back in the ring, Owens hit his modified Cradle Brainbuster through a table and then followed it up with the Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Ambrose escaped at the count of nine. Owens then propped Ambrose on four chairs and attempted a top rope maneuver, but Ambrose pushed him off the top rope, onto a pair of stacked tables to secure the victory.
