Review Fix: What makes “If I’m Enough” special to you?

Mathew V: “If I’m Enough” was the first time where I felt I was opening up about the struggles I was facing with myself at the time. I really wanted to write this record to help get me through a period in my life and this song kick started that process. Also, sonically… This song was the audible vision I had in my mind for this record.

Review Fix: How was it written?

V: I wrote this song locked away in my bedroom, plunking out chords in root position and really itemizing my emotional state. After I had the full structure together, I went to my producer for this record (the amazing Matt Rogers) and he helped make the arrangement something musically special.

Review Fix: Who inspires you musically?

V: I am super inspired by new music every week. I love seeing where music is going, and how quickly people are adapting and innovating. Everyday my stylistic preferences broaden.

Review Fix: How do you want this track to affect people?’

V: I by no means write to change the world. I write to process my emotions, and dive deep into my human experience. The goal is for people to authentically connect with that. Whether thats one person, or whether thats 1 million people, I want it to help and connect with people who honestly feel where I’m coming from… and in turn, I will understand them just the same.

Review Fix: What are your goals in music over the next couple of years?

V: My goals are to move onwards and upwards everyday. Even if only the smallest baby step, I want to go to bed every night a better singer, and a better writer than I was that previous morning.

Review Fix: What do you think you have to change or do to make that happen?

V: Continue to bust my butt. As long as this passion is red hot like it’s been in my 19 years of living, I’m not going to stop until…..well I’m not going to stop at all.

Review Fix: What’s next?

V: Onwards and upwards! I have so much more content coming leading up to my album release in the fall. But until then, I am just focusing on the official release of “If I’m Enough” out on all platforms Friday, July 29.
