Summerslam 2016 Power Rankings: Balor the King of WWE

A new Women’s Champion and a first ever WWE Universal Champion ensured that this year’s Summerslam was awesome, even with the shortened main event between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar. Check out our Summerslam 2016 Power Rankings to see who else starred in the WWE’s summer classic.

Honorable Mention: Sasha Banks: Along with Charlotte Flair, Banks put on a wonderful match that fans cared about. Women’s wrestling has never been more important to the industry.

5: Charlotte Flair: Her match with Sasha Banks was a war that proves Flair is more than a one-hit wonder as Women’s Champion. With a 300-plus day run her first time as Champion, Flair is poised to continue to carve her legacy as one of the best female performers of this generation. With Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch and others in the division, there’s plenty of competition as well.

4: Dean Ambrose: A weak win over Dolph Ziggler at Summerslam, Ambrose needs to step it up if he’s ever going to be taken as one of the better WWE World Heavyweight Champions. A lunatic and great on the mic and in the ring, he has yet to have that “magic” match during his championship reign.

3: AJ Styles: His clean win over John Cena was a huge moment that makes Styles a made man in professional wrestling. After years of amazing matches in ROH, TNA and NJPW, Styles finally has the respect of WWE brass. Expect a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship soon enough.

2: Brock Lesnar: The Beast’s decimation of Randy Orton and Shane McMahon was no joke. With his UFC win and now this, there’s no doubt that Lesnar is out for blood.

1: Finn Balor: His win over Seth Rollins makes him the first ever Universal Champion. With his first taste of singles gold in the WWE already out of the way, make no mistake, Balor is destined to be at the top of the card for years to come.
