TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Cody’s Coming, Grand Championship Finals Set

With a week to go before Bound For Glory, TNA did a decent job of setting up their card with the semifinals of the Grand Championship tournament and more drama in all of their championship divisions. The Cody Rhodes vignette also helped as it adds another layer of intrigue to the Bound for Glory.

With the rumors of TNA’s sale running rampant, BFG may be their last PPV under the Dixie Carter regime. It needs to be a magical one either way.

Matches:

Grand Championship Tournament Semifinals: Eddie Edwards vs. Drew Galloway: After Galloway and Edwards traded rounds, Galloway locked in the Iron Maiden, but Edwards countered it with the same maneuver. Edwards then countered a Piledriver into an Ankle Lock, but Galloway hit a big kick before the two traded chops. With less than a minute left the chops continued until Galloway hit a Cross Powerbomb on the turnbuckle and the Future Shock DDT before time ran out. That was enough to get him a win by decision.

Grand Championship Tournament Semifinals: Aron Rex vs. Eli Drake: Lots of back and forth, but Rex got the win with The Revelator in round three.

X-Division Champion Zema Ion vs. Trevor Lee: Although Lee made him work for it, Ion got the win with his Running ZDT for the win. After the match Andrew Everett attacked Ion, but Edwards made the save. Soon enough, Edwards grabbed a mic and asked for a title shot next week.

TNA Knockouts Champion Maria Kanellis w/Sienna and Allie vs. Local Competitor: Billed as a public workout, Kanellis, with help from Sienna, easily beat the local competitor. After the match, Gail Kim hit the ring disguised as a ninja and nailed Sienna with the Eat Defeat.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley and Mike Bennett vs. Moose and Ethan Carter III: A waste of time as Moose took out Lashley on the outside and ECIII pinned Bennett with a Rollup in a counter of the Miracle in Progress. After the match, Moose and Bennett fought on the ramp, while Lashley and Carter fought in the ring. Soon enough Billy Corgan hit the ramp and said that next week, Carter and Lashley will have a Team vs. Team match in Lethal Lockdown, with the winner picking the stipulation for BFG.
