Review Fix Exclusive 2016 NYCC Coverage: Kim Coates Talks Officer Downe

Review Fix talks with the star of “Officer Downe,” Kim Coates.

After playing trigger-man Tig Trager for seven years on the hit FX series “Sons of Anarchy,” Coates took some time to reflect – turning down both film and television roles, digesting the past seven years, that is until “Officer Downe” came his way.

Based on the Image series of the same name, “Officer Downe,” created by Joe Casey and Chris Burnham follows Officer Terry Downe that is resurrected to combat the forces of evil.

After reading the script, Coates met with Casey, who also penned the screenplay, Producer Mark Neveldine in a room with Slipknot co-founder and Director of “Officer Downe” Michael Shawn Crahan phoning in from his tour stop in Berlin.

Coates has one simple question regarding the film for Crahan: “How are you gonna shoot this in 25 days?”

Crahan had a simplier answer: “I hope to have you playing Downe.”

By the time Coates walked outside to his motorcycle, he had an offer to play Downe.

Coates also talks to us about his process to get in the role, collaborating with Crahan and what’s next for the veteran actor.
