WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament Night One Coverage: Dunne, Mandrews and Conners Shine

While not nearly as enjoyable as the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, the first night of the United Kingdom Championship Tournament was an enjoyable night of wrestling with a raucous crowd. With the quarterfinal matches set, the rest of the tournament is sure to pick up the pace.

Matches:

Trent Seven vs. HC Dyer: Seven got the win with the Seven-Star Lariat, but Dyer impressed with strong strikes and a nice Spinning Blue Thunder.

Danny Burch vs. Jordan Devlin: Plenty of back and forth as Burch nearly won with a Spinning Lariat and a Crossface, but Devlin got the win with the Trouble in Paradise which split open the back of Burch’s head and forced the ref to stop the match after Burch was bloodied. After the match, Devlin hit Burch with a Super Kick

Saxon Huxley vs. Sam Gradwell: A by the number match that the crowd had more fun with than the competitors. Gradwell got the win with the Lariat and a Diving Headbutt.

Pete Dunne vs. Roy Johnson: Dunne was feisty throughout, but Johnson hit power moves to stick around and nearly won with The Big Ending. However, thanks to strike son his own and an X-Plex, followed by a Pumphandle Flatliner, Dunne got the win.

Wolfgang vs. Tyson T-Bone: This was a quick one but a fun one as T-Bone’s striking and Wolfgang’s high-flying made for an entertaining bout. Wolfgang got the win with the Senton Bomb.

Joseph Conners vs. James Drake: Connors worked on Drake’s ear throughout the match, but Conners was aggressive when it counted and hit the Don’t Look Down Urinage Flatliner for the win.

Mark Andrews vs. Dan Maloney: Mandrews got the win with a beautiful Shooting Star Press on the tough Maloney, who nearly won on a few occasions with strikes and Suplex variations.

Tucker vs. Tyler Bate: Tucker hit the Super Duper Kick, but Tucker got the win with the Tiger Bomb.
