The 8th Annual NYC Independent Film Festival (NYCIndieFF) will take place this year from May 1st to May 7th in the heart of New York City. The festival will host screenings of over 250 films, in addition to a number of networking events, panels and seminars. Among the new additions to this year’s festival will be an expanded Virtual RealityExperience and the NYCIndieFF Voices Exhibit Project. For more information, please visit: www.nycindieff.com
The NYCIndieFF provides a showcase for the best in independent cinema, including short films, feature films, music videos and animated works. With panels, parties and a week-long gathering of fellow indie filmmakers, the 8th Annual NYCIndieFF promotes an open and nurturing environment for artists, writers, actors, filmmakers and fans.
This year, the NYCIndieFF is proud to present a day-long Virtual Reality Experience, in partnership with REVIRE ImmersiveWorks and Pretend Labs. Taking place Saturday, May 6th from 1:00pm – 5:00pm and 6:00pm – 10:00pm, the VR experience will showcase works curated by REVIRE co-founder, Mark Sternberg, as well as original works, including 360 Video, Cinematic VR pieces and Interactive VR videos. In addition, Pretend Labs, helmed by Brandon Henriquez, will present demos of various applications, including Fragments by Microsoft HoloLens, and showcase a number of 3D scans. This day-long experience will be followed by in-depth concluding presentations on Sunday, May 7th.
Another addition to this year’s festival is the NYCIndieFF Voices Exhibit Project. In response to the current political climate in the United States, the NYCIndieFF welcomes all voices, from NYC and worldwide, to send a short, honest video about how they feel about their place in their community, country and the world. NYCIndieFF Executive Director, Dennis Cieri, will curate the installation piece, which aims to give unheard voices a platform for expression. Submissions should be 2-5 minutes in length, and can be shot horizontally with cell phones. For questions, or to submit a video, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The 8th annual NYC Independent Film Festival will take place May 1st – May 7th, 2017. For more information and to stay updated on NYC Independent Film Festival please visit:
