Review Fix: How did you get involved in art?

Josh Moreira: It pretty much started when I was about seven-years-old. It’s something I remembered picking up on my own. Both of my parents are artists (my mom retired from it). I didn’t know about my dad being one till I was about 13 or 14.

Review Fix: Why are so many of your pieces related to wrestling?

Moreira: More recently it has picked up due to meeting talent in person, like at meet and greets but also in terms of wrestling, in general, I’ve expanded more thanks to attending events and showing support to indie wrestling, which I started doing last year.

Review Fix: How does it feel to work with Battle Club Pro?

Moreira: Amazing. I couldn’t have chosen to work with a better group of guys. Experiencing special moments like showing my art piece to Drew McIntyre in the ring, having a table next to British Strong Style and also showing them my work are things I’m just very thankful for, as well as my relationship with Joakim Morales, who scouted me last year from a wrestling group on Social media. But I’ve also seen what has to be done behind the scenes, so I have way more respect for these guys. Also looking forward to this promotion to grow even more.

Review Fix: How would you describe your art to someone who’s never seen your work?

Moreira: I try to do something different, but also keep it traditional. Like my portrait work, I love doing the black and white style, something I was Inspired by an artist named Cory Smith, who also does pops of color similar to what I do like eye color, attire, hair things that have actual color.

Review Fix: What makes your work special or unique?

Moreira: What makes my work unique is that I tend to get better and better. I always try some things differently, but always want to stay true to my style. Doing also anime, I like keeping true to that anime look but also add elements that you haven’t seen like my anime/manga combo.

Review Fix: You’ve given your work to many of the performers you’ve drawn. How does that feel?

Moreira: A few I give, most of them I have autographed, but either way it’s such an awesome feeling. Having that Interaction is great and I really enjoy when they even ask me questions about it.

Review Fix: Any cool stories?

Moreira: A few actually. One I recall was meeting Cody Rhodes last year right after he left WWE at Heroes and Villains fan fest along with his wife, Brandy. I met him again in March at The Big Event- he remembered me and signed my American Nightmare shirt which is retired now. I told him, “whenever you’re in New York, I’ll support you.” Fast forward to May at House of Glory, the first thing he says to me is, “so hows the artwork coming along?” I thought that was very awesome of him. I also met Matt and Jeff Hardy back in December. Matt loved that I added a crown on his son and Jeff said he has so much respect for what I do.

Another cool moment was meeting The Young Bucks in March. I even ended up on an episode of The Elite showing the art piece. I met Adam Cole at my first Ring of Honor show I attended and his last PPV in ROH. He loved the piece and he even commented on IG. He asked how long I’ve been drawing and loved I added the blue eyes in the Black and White style. More recently, Joey Janela (CZW star) recognized who I was right off the bat, which I thought was cool as hell. I’ve had so many great moments each wrestler or celeb I’ve met has been such a positive reaction I can go on for days to share each one.

Review Fix: What artists inspire you?

Moreira: The one I mentioned earlier Cory Smith portrait artist and does the convention scene which I started last year myself. Tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado who’s by far, in my opinion, the best portrait tattoo artist in the country, possibly the world, but my biggest inspiration is my dad. He’s my hardest critic as I tell everyone, but his feedback also motivates me to push even more to get better each time out.

Review Fix: What are your goals in art?

Moreira: Besides being successful at it, to show everyone what I’ve done. Anyone can do it with hard work and dedication. My #1 goal right now is to someday be at artist alley at New York Comic Con. I’ll keep pushing for that.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Moreira: Just keep doing what I’ve been doing. Attending conventions, interacting at meet and greets. Working with Battle Club Pro. I’ve had a few interviews with big companies such as both Marvel and DC so anything can happen as long as I continue to push myself.
