Review Fix Exclusive: JIBE’s Joe Grah Talks ‘Epic Tales of Human Nature’ And More

Review Fix chats with JIBE’s Joe Grah, who discusses their new album, Epic Tales of Human Nature. The band’s first album since 2002’s UPRISING, Gran lets us know who it feels to be making new music again. He also details the band’s creative process and goals for the future.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Joe Grah: I was surrounded by LP’s as a kid growing up, I would always chill in my room and just play record after record, of course singing along at the top of my lungs. Initially, I was into poetry and drums, later on, I evolved into singing when I formed JIBE.

Review Fix: What makes your brand special?

Grah: JIBE truly reflects the very real and uncertain journey we’re all on. Four unique individuals coalescing in the center to achieve a higher vibration and greater sum.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Grah: I live in LA and Toby lives in Dallas, he usually sends me raw riffs, or arranged riffs, I write lyrics, melodies, work-on arrangements, etc, I’ll also work out production ideas in my home studio prior to entering the actual recording studio. The band also has a history of endless jam sessions that birth endless songs with everyone adding their part.

Review Fix: What makes you different?

Grah: The band is pure, the songs are real, the crowds react.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song on the album? How was it written?

Grah: Release is our current single and a perfect example of a potent and important track on the album. Toby sent me riffs in a basic arrangement, I loaded it into pro-tools, did some editing, and proceeded to effortlessly write a very personal and emotional story that means the absolute world to me. This is a concept album and every song plays an equal part in the participation and overall message.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2017?

Grah: Album out, single/video out, documentary wrapped up and edited, concerts, more singles/videos, world tour for 2018 connecting with endless new friends.

Review Fix: What makes your latest album special?

Grah: We put everything we had into it, and I mean FUCKING EVERYTHING.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Grah: By reflecting our true, effortless, unconditional intentions, as well as overcoming our personal indifference, we hope to inspire people to let go and believe in themselves, we’re all powerfully capable entities of creation and possibility.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Grah: The world.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Grah: We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to share our art with the world and can’t wait to connect with each and every one of you.
