Review Fix Exclusive: Inside ‘Final Fantasy Awakening’

Review Fix chats with Oasis Games’ Tina Huang who lets us know why this Japanese-Only mobile Final Fantasy game is an awesome one.

About Final Fantasy Awakening:

Final Fantasy Awakening features high-speed, action-based combat and requires strategy based on the various moves and fighting styles of each of the original Type-0 fourteen warriors. Furthermore, there are other multiple characters for players to experience. Players can recruit or unlock new characters to add to their teams. By leveling up, players will also be able to claim in-game funds to enhance the skills and equipment of the whole team. The game inherited the original trinity battle form which three players out of the team can cast their ultimate strokes together on the enemy. Based on this, Final Fantasy Awakening extended the diverse 1+2+2 battle form, which players can switch two characters in the team to the rest two in order to cast their final skills. Specific to different battle scenarios and according to the current characters’ skills, players can flexibly adjust the battle formation time by time during battles to achieve the final victory. Players may even summon Eidolons to shift the course of an epic battle.

Review Fix: How was this game born?

Tina Huang: Final Fantasy Awakening is based on the original “Final Fantasy Type-0.” People really enjoyed that game, so we thought if they can play it on their mobile phone, then it will be great.

Review Fix: What makes this game special?

Huang: This is the sole SQUARE ENIX Official Licensed “Final Fantasy” action game.

Review Fix: What games from the past have influenced it?

Huang: Final Fantasy Type-0 is really our main influence.

Review Fix: What did you learn during the development process?

Huang: It’s hard work to make ideas tangible on the smartphone, but I think we accomplished it.

Review Fix: Why must someone play it?

Huang: It’s a MMOARPG game, so the player can control their own characters and enjoy it.

Review Fix: The game is beautiful. What inspired the art?

Huang: Thank you! We took our inspiration from the Second Industrial Revolution and science fiction.

Review Fix: The Switch has been a monster in 2017. Any hopes to ever release on the Switch?

Huang: The Switch is extremely popular this year, so you can’t deny it’s a land of opportunity, but we’ll see. We can’t say more about that at this time.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Huang: We’re proud of the game as it is, but we are still trying to provide more interesting things to the player, more updates.

Review Fix: How does it feel to work with the Final Fantasy license?

Huang: It’s fun and challenging.

Review Fix: Why should hardcore fans play it?

Huang: They can experience a true and original “Final Fantasy” game and change the outcome of a battle by summoning EIDOLONS.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d to add?

Huang: Don’t miss out, download and play it now, you will love it.
