Patrick Hickey Jr.- Founder, Editor-In-Chief
I am the Founder, Editor-in-Chief, Master Jedi and Grand Pooh-bah of ReviewFix.com. Despite being an avid and prolific journalist over the past seven years, I find myself wanting more. During my career, I’ve spent time covering everything from minor league hockey and baseball to the New York Mets and the NHL and interviewing everyone from David Wright to Martin Brodeur. I’ve been published in over two dozen newspapers, magazines and websites and have won several awards along the way. In addition to teaching Journalism and English at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, I am also a Weekend Editor at NBC Local Integrated Media. I’m still hungry though.
While sports writing has been a blast and still provides a tremendous rush for me, I felt a need to return to entertainment writing, an endeavor I supremely enjoyed while I was the EIC of two college newspapers. As a matter of fact, some of the greatest times in my journalistic career were those late nights in the editing and layout rooms, working with people and discussing pop culture. Sometimes, those would be the reasons why I enjoyed myself so much, aside from looking at our finished product at the end of the night.
After college, I continued writing and began teaching Journalism and felt that again, while sports writing will always be the Jennifer Love Hewitt of my heart, I realized that I am a slave to this craft and need an Alyssa Milano of sorts. That, to me, at least, is entertainment writing. At this site, my staff -which I have gathered from my exploits as a professor and journalist- and I will be dedicated to bringing you the most up to date reviews in the entertainment world as well as reviews of older material you may not have seen, which eventually will create a one of a kind experience you’ll feel the need to see every single day, before we eventually own your soul.
Don’t fight it my friends, embrace it.
You can reach me at PatrickHickeyJr@Reviewfix.com if you have any questions or concerns. It is our goal to make this the most innovative and fun atmosphere we can. Help us make that happen.
Nick Valente- Television Editor
I’m currently a student at Brooklyn College majoring in Television and Radio, planning an inevitable takeover of the world. However, I am still looking for a dumb mouse, preferably named Pinky, to accompany me. At the site, I’m a movie, television and graphic novel kind of guy and that’s what I’ll be writing for the most part.
Expect some book and music reviews as well though [insert demon horns here]. I grew up in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, the same neighborhood many of the best mafia films of our day were based on, idolizing guys like Robert DeNiro, Martin Scorsese and Al Pacino. I’m also a big sports fan and follow the New York Yankees intensely.
Rocco Sansone- Comic Books Editor
Rocco Sansone was born in Brooklyn, New York to Italian immigrant parents. He attended Kingsborough Community College where he received his Associates in Journalism and then Brooklyn College to get his Bachelors in English. He wrote for Kingsborough’s student newspaper Scepter where his biggest achievement was interviewing former Rock the Vote president Jehmu Greene. He is a “man of many interests.” These include anime/manga, video games, tabletop RPGs, YA literature, 19th century literature, the New York Rangers, and history. Among the things and places he would like to see before he dies are Japan, half of Europe, and the New York Rangers win another Stanley Cup. He lives in Brooklyn.

David Guzman- Senior Writer
I just received my degree in journalism at Brooklyn College, where I served as the arts editor for one of the campus newspapers, the Kingsman.
When it comes to the arts, I’ve managed to cover a variety of subjects, including music, films, books and art exhibitions. I’ve reviewed everything from “Slumdog Millionaire” (which was a good film) to “Coraline,” (which wasn’t) and I’ve also interviewed legendary film critic Leonard Maltin.

Donna-Lyn Washington- Staff Writer
I’ve been the go-to person of obscure information that I’ve picked up from reading, watching movies and television and a fetish for 80’s-90’s music since I learned to talk. I enjoy the fact that for a long time I was the only one who knew that “Three’s Company” was a rip-off of the British Comedy “Man About the House.” Although I am knowledgeable on a multitude of subjects, my lisp and stutter would get in the way of my explanations and I could only save a dry-witty phrase for the written word – so I consider writing to be a path-working to fully express my ideas. Knowing the terror of formal writing, I currently teach at Kingsborough Community College in hopes of helping others overcome the fear that once gripped my heart as a speaker of words.
Marisa Vitolo- Contributing Writer
Marisa Vitolo attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Despite her love for fashion, the idea of making a difference in the world was what drew her to teaching. Marisa teaches at PS 315, a Performing Arts School in Brooklyn, where she also coordinates various fundraisers. She holds a Bachelors degree in Child Study and a Masters in Literacy. Marisa is currently a writer for our theater review section. She enjoys backpacking around the globe and taking on new challenges.

During the three years I have lived in the United States, I discovered that I can speak English, learn Spanish, maintain a 4.0 GPA for all consecutive semesters studying in a foreign language and what’s more important, become a journalist. Seeing myself as a creative writer and a poet, I never thought that writing about real people and events would be so thrilling. I used to think that if a writer uses facts in his work, he lacks imagination. However, Journalism has taught me that one can be creative in an article as well.

I spent a good decade dabbling in creating metaphysically-inclined narrative fiction and a mercifully short stream of lackluster poetry. A seasoned connoisseur of college majors, I discovered journalism only recently, though my respect for the field is hardly laughable. I eventually plan to teach
philosophy at a university and write in my free time while traveling the world, scaling mountains and finding other, more creative ways to stimulate adrenaline. Travel journalism, incidentally, would be a dream profession. Potential employers? Feel free to ruthlessly steal me away from the site. I’ll put that overexposed Miss Brown to shame.

Since I could remember, I always received compliments for my writing. It was something I’ve consistently enjoyed doing, but I never thought I’d come as far as I am right now due to the talent that I’ve strived for. When I was younger, everything I wrote came naturally. I would barely ever have to think about what I was going to write before putting it down on paper. But for some reason, my nonchalant-ness seemed to benefit.
I’m currently a student at Kingsborough Community College and my major is Journalism/Print Media. There wasn’t and still isn’t a field that I would enjoy working more in than journalism.
Overall, I’d have to say I’m a huge sucker for rock music and horror films, but I never limit myself to anything.
I hope to provide ReviewFix.com with the best and most updated reviews of entertainment that I can possibly concoct.

If I like it you can bet your bum I’ll write about it. As long as I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for music. I’ve been playing guitar for about five years and bass for about two. I’m currently in an 80’s Thrash Metal band called “Raging Steel.” This is my fourth band. I used to be in a band called “Turbulence ,” but those days are over. I like hanging out wherever and whenever and I’m always in a chill mood. My favorite movie of all time is Evil Dead 2 because, c’mon, it’s Bruce Campbell. My favorite band is Slayer because … it’s…wait for it… Slayer (True fans can’t just say Slayer; they have to yell it). I’m also a big fan of comics and video games.
Homer Simpson is god.

I enjoy obsessing over things and then dropping them like a hot potato. Therefore, journalism suits me. I can immerse myself in a topic, write passionately and then be done with it. I have this mind set about many things, even shopping. I have a fondness for an article of clothing while in the boutique and I’ll buy it. Realizing I don’t need the item, I find myself returning it. However, the only thing I’ll never return is my passion for journalism. I love to discover new things, meet new people and be able to tell a story for those who can’t do it themselves.
Currently I am a student at Kingsborough Community College and editor-in-chief of Scepter, the college’s paper. Journalism caught my interest during my freshman year in high school where I later became Editor-in Chief of both school papers. I was also an intern at the Bond Buyer, a financial newspaper where I received hands on reporting, writing and newsroom experience. In the future I hope to travel and write about the places I’ve seen and uncover life altering stories that will be beneficial to the country’s citizens.
Craig Rogers- Contributing Writer
Craig Rogers was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Rogers comes from a large family with four brothers and one sister and grew up in a single parent household. Rogers attended the Law Studies program of Sheepshead Bay High School but developed another career interest in Journalism. He worked as a sports writer in his high school newspaper and was the Editor In Chief of his senior yearbook staff. Even with this new interest, Rogers went on to college and majored in Criminal Justice at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. He learned to hard way that it was the road for him and left that college. In 2008, Rogers enrolled in Kingsborough Community College and has earned an Associates’ Degree in Journalism and Print Media. He intends to continue his education at Brooklyn College.

I enjoy watching films, reading books, writing poetry and drama, learning new languages, and traveling around the world. While I was an undergraduate, I took classes in creative writing, playwrighting, Spanish theatre, Italian cinema, etc. I also spent two summers studying abroad in Italy and Spain. The most amazing thing is that very often my interests entwine with my studies and personal experience. In that way I could see everything from a new perspective: my favorite mafia movies remind me of the situation in Bulgaria(not so good); the inspiration for my poems/plays is triggered by film characters, as well as characters from books I analyze for my classes (Holly Gollighty, DiCaprio’s character from “Titanic”); my global experience helps better understand the cultures shown in movies and books.
I have been contributing with film reviews to ReviewFix since 2009. My focus is on indie movies, Latin American movies, and American classics.
Nicholas Jason Lopez- Contributing Writer
Being a 19 year-old living in Brooklyn, it’s safe to say I see a lot of things happen on a daily basis. However, who’s to say things don’t happen on a daily basis anywhere else? Everywhere you look, there’s a story just waiting to be told. It’s just a matter of having someone to tell it. I’m hoping to be that someone.
I currently am in my Second year at Kingsborough Community College majoring in Journalism. I write for their award-winning newspaper “Scepter.” I’m passionate about writing and I hope it shows. On my free time, I enjoy watching Baseball games, Professional wrestling, and listening to music.
