When Tough Guys Ruled the Cinema

bannertg30 years ago may not seem like too long ago, but when compared to the mediocrity of modern cinema, it’s light years away in terms of overall quality. As well, it was a time when tough guys such as Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, Gene Hackman, Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, James Coburn, James Caan and Steve McQueen owned the screen and pretty boys the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Jude Law would have lasted five seconds on the same film reel. Back then, you could watch a movie and feel confident that someone’s skull was going to be kicked in.

Nowadays, the screen is littered with pretty boys with no talent. To be blunt, the Johnny Depp’s and Brad Pitt’s of the acting world are as rare as an obese Somalian child. Because of this, we at Review Fix yearn for the gods of coolness to rule the screen once again.
