I adore this film (although it did take a few viewings). I like how it is such a departure from the series and the characters they played. Music wise, I have to agree that it is some of their best material. “Circle Sky” is the best version recorded (accept no other version than the live one! The other are so lacking without Peter’s awesome bass) and “Do I Have To Do This All Over Again” is a great example of what a good musician and writer Peter actually was, it’s a shame he departed the group after this. “Porpoise Song” is one of my all time favourite Monkees tunes, Micky’s vocals are so hauntingly beautiful on it.

Anyway, I agree with everything you said wholeheartedly! Everyone should try and watch this film, even if you’re not a huge Monkees fan :)
