Oh. No. You. Didn’t. How can you leave out The Grateful Dead’s American Beauty? Also, what do you have against Jefferson Airplane? I remember you left out Marty Balin from your 10 best vocalists list. Surely, Surrealistic Pillow should have made the cut. Where’s Janis’ Pearl? I guess you left off Dylan because you considered him “Folk” and Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers because you consider them “Southern Rock,” correct? O.K. on the last two – I’ll give you that. (I’m glad Hendrix made it – that was a close one!)

Steve, I think it is impossible to list 10 lps that will satisfy everyone. However, even fans who never loved the Beach Boys would have to concede that Pet SOUNDS is a monumental achievement in the history of recorded music!! In addition , prog rock fans would obviously emphasis ELP, PINK FLOYD,TULL,Moody BLUES(DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED),among others. ANOTHER GREAT ARTICLE!!!!!

The Beatles and The Who alone should easily take up half a Top 10 list (where’s The White Album, Abbey Road, Tommy and Quadrophenia?) As for Yellow Brick Road – sure it’s great, but Elton’s true peak was two years later with Capt. Fantastic.

P.S. – Where’s Paranoid ??

great choices steve but there is one serious oversight…black sabbath’s paranoid…that was one of the most influential bands and albums of all time…i am wondering if you considered it and left it off for some reason or if it was just an oversight
