“Oh, John the Rabbit” – Elizabeth Mitchell

If you have a 5-year old, they’ll love Elizabeth’s Mitchell’s “Oh, John the Rabbit.” It’s definitely written for an audience with children. Still it’s a fun, little ditty that isn’t annoying.

“By Some Miracle” – Philip Selway

Selway’s “By Some Miracle” tries its damndest to be cool and aloof. Instead it comes across as depressing and self-indulgent. The slow pace of the music is disjointed and doesn’t connect to with the lyrics. Pass on this one.

“Genius of Love (2001 Ozomatli Remix)” – The Tom Tom Club

“Whatcha gonna do when you get out of jail?” Whatever it is don’t listen to this remix of the Tom Tom Club classic – you’ll feel as if you’re still in there.

“Between the Bars” – Elliot Smith

Just because you have an acoustic guitar doesn’t mean you have to make a lamenting tune about how much someone doesn’t want you and how you’re the best thing for them. Beside it being slow and meandering around the point it’s dull, painfully so. Skip it.

“Respect Yourself” – Huey Lewis and the News

Ahh, Huey Lewis and the News are back and this time they’ve remade some classic tunes. For those of you who have missed this iconic band you will not be disappointed. Huey Lewis is great at making a song his own. His duet of Smokey Robinson’s “Cruisin” with Gwyneth Paltrow was the best thing about that film. Definitely download this version of “Respect Yourself.”

“Gimme Sympathy” – Metric

“Gimme Sympathy” by Metric is one of those tracks that once it’s over has been forgotten. That’s not a good thing for a free track. Don’t waste your time.

“Sex Karma (Featuring Solange Knowles)” – Of Montreal

A great title and a good singer in Solange Knowles can’t help Of Montreal’s “Sex Karma.” Once this song figures out what it wants to be you should give it a shot. Until then pass this mess of a track up.
