The Era of The Miz Begins

With John Cena’s last appearance on RAW for the foreseeable future and The Miz capturing the WWE Championship, there was a changing of the guard in the company this past Monday.

Make no mistake about it.

Only time will tell if The Miz is able to bring the company’s entertainment level up a notch. The way it looks from the outside, another youngster has been given the title without putting the same amount of struggle that countless others have. Sure, The Miz has won titles in both singles and tag team competition, but it feels like he’s still finding his way. Just like Sheamus, he has talent, but doesn’t have the polish of a true WWE Champ.

What he does have is charisma and a willingness to cut good promo. His finisher is far from explosive however and it’s going to be tough to make his matches captivating against bigger opponents. All in all, it’s going to be very interesting to see how the WWE handles this title reign.

The way they set it up, with Alex Riley subbing for The Miz in his King of the Ring qualifier and later with the Nexus taking out Randy Orton, you’d have to be pretty feeble not to have seen it coming. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t entertaining, but this writing team has a long way to go before they can get back to where they were a decade ago.

A true shame when this company continues to shoot itself in the foot creatively over and over. They have a real opportunity to build on this situation however, as the camera pans to all the upset children and disgruntled adults means The Miz could have some serious heat next week.
