Another One Bites the Dust

Mickael Zaki is gone. Now his wife can pay the bills and he can wonder the rest of his life what he could have been.

In spite of a much better physique and being a better in-ring competitor than Ryan Howe, Zaki got toasted in a promo that put a smile on Stone Cole Steve Austin’s face.

Professional wrestling doesn’t always make sense. Well, most of the time it doesn’t. It’s hard to tell what the intangibles are at times, but with his nonchalant attitude and inability to get along with some of the other members of the house, Zaki is destined to roam the independent circuit until he gets a reality check.

Say whatever you like about Howe, but even with his overacting and Nelson hairdo, he still cut a solid promo and sent a much better athlete packing. That’s got to mean something.

With Zaki gone however, how much longer can Howe last in this competition? The same thing goes for the reigning Miss America Rima Fakih, who has found herself in the bottom three for the second week in a row. Front-runner Luke Robinson had a sloppy week, and showboated a bit too much for trainers Bill DeMott, Trish Stratus and Booker T. Can he rebound next week and reclaim his crown on the top of the food chain? At the same time, Martin Casaus showed what he was made of, while big Eric Watts got a talking to from The Big Show that seemed to get him on the right track. With his size and look, this sport is a natural fit for him, but can he get in shape fast enough to make due on his vast potential?

On another note, many of the same problems that hurt the show in previous weeks are still prevalent this week. With so many contestants, the WWE has to try to tell everyone’s story. At this point, little is known about far too many of the competitors. That is the only real problem with the show, which has more to do with its running time than its overall quality. Nevertheless, in order for this show to truly make the most of its time, they have to make an effort to tell everyone’s story.

Otherwise, these people who have sacrificed a huge part of their lives in order to be on this show, will be looked at as jobbers before they even get a chance to show what they’re made of.
