All About the ‘Lerix’

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Lerix has a strong passion for the art of hip-hop and has displayed, rather quickly, that he has the potential to stick around for the long haul.

Through his music, he has created music that has an old school feel with an up-to-date twist. With the recent release of his second EP, “Audio Arcade” and the upcoming release of a third project, Lerix is quickly gaining exposure and will see his name in lights soon enough.

Lerix plays up the arcade theme well throughout this project. “I’m No Good” makes the grade by artfully combines meaningful lyrics with a catchy beat. In this track, it is a cheater’s realization that he is unable to be faithful. He seems to regret it, but it may be too late for him is save his relationship. With violins blazing, “I Got This” is his version of a “look at me now” single. He has set out with the goal to show the naysayers that he can be a successful artist. Showing elements of both a love and hate relationship, Lerix has managed to express his point of view in a way that few mainstream musicians know how to do.

Reminiscent of Boyz II Men’s rendition of “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday”, Lerix’s next track is a definite cry-jerker. “Catch with ya later” is a powerful song of friendship, sadness and closure to move on after the death of a loved one. He cleverly opens up his first set of bars with an ironic statement to break that ice and let his true feelings show. It is captivating from beginning to end.

The last track on the “Audio Arcade” seals the deal and puts him in a different category than other emcees. “Passion of Mike” showcases his talents to write about more than just drugs, expensive parties and overt sexuality.

If he is going to rap, he is on a mission to do it the right way.

As a result, Lerix’s lyrics are worth listening to as a reminder of how rap should be done.
