The Cab Hails Another Winner

When Las Vegas natives The Cab released their debut album “Whisper War” in 2008, many did not know what to make of another pop-rock band. Signed to Fueled By Ramen and Decadence Records, many believed that they would be dismissed for bands like Paramore and Gym Class Heroes, their already established counterparts.

However, three years later, The Cab is still holding their own with the release of their sophomore album, “Symphony Soldier.”

Breaking out from the mold of generic alternative rock bands, “Symphony Soldier” is the perfect example of a band moving outside of the box. It is more than just a lead guitar and drums, but a blend of various instruments that can often be neglected because “they aren’t rock and roll.” Their first single “Bad” showcases The Cab’s ability to balance strong lyrics with those equally pleasing instruments.

There are, however, some similarities between “Whisper War” and “Symphony Soldier.” It can be argued that the subject matters are seemingly the same but the sound is the savior in all of this. There is a level of maturity that is present with this new album, which should not be surpassed. Completely funded by the band only, one can see this shine through the music. The hard work and passion is present and it is clear.

This is the product of a group that intends on sticking around.

Packed with songs upbeat from special guests Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), John Feldmann (producer of The Used’s Lies for the Liars) and Bruno Mars, Symphony Soldiers is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a change.
