Review Fix’s WWE Slammy Awards

In the wake of the WWE’s Slammy awards, Review Fix provides their own winners.

OMG Moment of the Year: When CM Punk came out with a Stone Cold T-shirt at the end of an episode of RAW this summer, many fans were confused. What followed was the best promo of Punk’s career and one that “made” him with the smart fan. The last bit of edge in the company, Punk embodies the fan that watched the Monday Night Wars, who wants wrestling and great promo. That night, he gave it.

Holy %&@*#! Moment of the Year: Got to be Big Show and Mark Henry breaking the ring. Nothing even comes close.

Tell Me I Did NOT Just See That Moment of the Year: Kelly Kelly kissing Kermit the Frog was cute, but it was an embarrassment for any fan who grew up with divas the likes of Sable and her painted on bikinis. It was the nail in the coffin. The “Attitude” era isn’t coming back anytime soon.

Pipe Bomb of the Year: CM Punk has delivered so many good promos this year, but his first on Alberto Del Rio, when he broke down his whole “destiny” gimmick was classic. His rants on Kevin Nash were hilarious too.

Divalicious Moment of the Year: Kelly Kelly is beautiful, but Kharma’s decimation of Michelle McCool completely changed the Diva landscape. Too bad she wanted to be a mother. An encounter between her and Beth Phoenix will be epic if it ever goes down.

Trending Superstar of the Year: Zack Ryder has made the best use of social media, so this award is his, but it must be said that Sheamus and Daniel Bryan are quickly developing into steady, top-tier talent for the company.

Game Changer of the Year: Edge’s retirement not only came as a shock to the entire WWE Universe, but forced the company to move and shake both rosters dramatically. In a way, he was the catalyst behind the end of the brand wars. Sure, The Rock and John Cena is going to be great, but that’s a one night thing and won’t impact the business the same way as Edge’s permanent departure has.

A-Lister of the Year: Sad to say here,  but the WWE got this one right. Snooki obviously trained for her match and at least tried in there. It should be said that the Muppets were adorable on RAW and almost walked away with the prize.

Superstar of the Year: Has to be CM Punk. To go from top heel to one of the top faces, in less than a year, is no easy task, but with his great promos and ability in the ring, he’s turned many into believers.
