‘Modern Family’ Stars Want to Double Salary

The adult cast members of Modern Family have united to ask ABC for higher salaries during the upcoming fourth season of the hit show.

The stars—Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson—are asking for around $200,000 per episode, compared to about $65,000 they each receive now (aside from veteran actor Ed O’Neil).

“They realize there’s strength in numbers, and it’s the best way to go about it,” a source familiar with the negotiations revealed to E! News, adding the increase will likely come out of ABC’s budget and not the studio’s, 20th Century Fox. “It’s going to be a long process, but we’re confident it will work out,”

It is common for television casts of popular shows to renegotiate new deals going into later seasons. With Modern Family’s high ratings and numerous awards, the cast is in a good position to ask for a raise, given the revenue it generates for ABC.

What may occur with season four’s storyline? ABC is apparently thinking of sending the cast to Colombia next season to meet Gloria’s (Vergara) family. Fun times.
