Adele’s Heart Broken by Bisexual Boyfriend, Says New Biography

Adele’s powerful voice has earned her fans worldwide.

Grammy-winning artist Adele has seen her fair share of heartbreak, which has led to chart-topping hits like “Rolling in the Deep,” but it was apparently a bisexual boy that first pushed her to pen some of her most memorable hits.

According to Adele: The Biography by Marc Shapiro, it was on Adele’s 18th birthday that her boyfriend left her for her gay best friend—just after they professed their love to each other.

“One thing we know is that it was a first love gone terribly bad,” Shapiro wrote. “Adele had professed her love and he did the same; she had known he was bisexual but, in the rush of romance, felt they could make it work. Four hours after laying their emotional cards on the table, the boy ran off with one of Adele’s gay friends.”

While four hours may not seem like much time at all—Tony Hicks quips that it’s “almost as long as Britney Spears’ first marriage”—it did push Adele to pen two tracks, “Hometown Glory” and “Daydreamer,” from her debut album, 19. And as we all know, she then went on to sweep the Grammys with her second release, 21, which sold over 22 million copies.

It should be noted, however, that Shapiro’s biography is unauthorized.

Still, the writer also goes on to talk about the singer’s alleged drinking problem. Apparently, Adele loved bad boys and drama—be it a horrible relationship with her father or a cheating bisexual beau.

“Adele would drink more than normal to salve the heartbreak,” Shapiro has said to In Touch Weekly.

Whether or not Adele does or did drink the pain away, the good news is she created a hugely successful career out of all the pain.

Shapiro’s unauthorized biography of Adele is due for release on July 17 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon.com and other outlets.
