TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings: Gang Warfare

While the crowd is the best the company has ever had, TNA in England has run its course. The pre-taped shows killed a ton of storyline momentum the company had before the overseas trip. Luckily, this week’s episode of Impact featured some fantastic wrestling action.

Here’s our weekly power rankings- check ‘em out to see who has the most to gain once the company heads back to the states.

5: Rockstar Spud: The youngin’ still has plenty to learn, but a nice Tornado DDT is proof that Spud has some ability as a mid-carder in the X-Division. His win over the much more experienced Robbie E will most likely have little storyline influence, but it’s still a win over a seasoned veteran.

4: Velvet Sky: After her return to Impact Wrestling late last year, no one expected Sky to get another shot with the Knockouts title. After she beat Tara, Tessmacher and Gail Kim on Impact however, the always-improving Sky managed to win the title once again. Always popular with fans, Sky may not legitimize the division as champion, but she doesn’t hamper it either.

3: Rob Van Dam: Not his best showing on Impact, but RVD kicked out of all of King’s high impact offense and hit the Rolling Thunder and Five-Star Frog Splash on the former Ring of Honor Star for the win. Now into his fourth month of his X-Division title reign, Van Dam has run out of decent competition. He needs a real angle now. At this point, RVD is a mainstay on the card, but he’s more filler than anything else.

2: Austin Aries and Robert Roode: These guys may have walked out of their eight-man tag match this week on Impact, but they are still the best thing going in the company now. Entertaining in promo and of course, in the ring, Aries and Roode are better singles wrestlers, but they’re making the best of a shoddy situation. TNA is a better company for it.

1: The Aces and Eights: An excellent six-man-tag proved how well the team can work in the ring. Devon and Anderson are the workhorses obviously, but if used right, Doc can be a force as well. Wes Brisco’s match with Kurt Angle at Lockdown will help build him up as a credible mid-card force. The Garret Bischoff situation is a tricky one however, as he’s too green for an encounter with a top tier worker. The club’s decimation of Sting after Impact’s main event built back some of their momentum, but they’re still a way away from being the dominant faction they’re capable of being.
