Impact Wrestling Power Rankings: Gangster’s Paradise

With a bunch of matches and all the titles represented this week on Impact, it was easily one of their better shows of 2013.

Check out our weekly power rankings to see who made the most of an entertaining episode of Impact.

5: Mickie James: Not the greatest match in Knockouts history, James still earned the win over the sultry Brooke Tessmacher this week to earn a title shot against the “injured” Velvet Sky. While the Knockouts division is stocked to the brim with talent, things have a hit a bit of a lull as of late. James is a damn good worker and a series of matches with Sky could change things. Even though we’d much rather have her be the first “old lady” in the Aces and Eights, just having her in the ring is a good thing.

4: Petey Williams: Although he didn’t get the win, Williams hit all of his moves with precision and style. From his signature Russian Leg Sweep to the Canadian Destroyer, he’s the flashback performer the X-Division needs. This guy is still just as talented as he was six years ago. A prolonged feud with Kenny King could be great for the X-Division.

3: Bobby Roode/Austin Aries/Christopher Daniels and Frank Kazarian: Who would have thought that two other tag teams besides the champions would be this entertaining? The promo these guys cut this week was hilarious. Simply put, if TNA had a shred of common sense, one of these teams would be champion, this way a real feud between Roode/Aries and Bad Influence could take place. While Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero can work, they have zero charisma.

2: AJ Styles: This was definitely not your typical AJ Styles match. No high-flying, no spots. More brawling than anything else, Styles beat James Storm with an intriguing Knee-Lock submission. Styles is definitely a different animal this time around.

1: The Aces and Eights: The gang was dominant in promo and in the ring. Even the B-team members in DOC, Knox, Garrett Bischoff and Wes Brisco had their moments this week. At this point, it looks like the gang’s reign of terror is just beginning.
