TNA Impact Power Rankings: Styles Clashes With Aces & Eights

A lack of storyline developments didn’t hurt this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling as much as you might think. The in-ring performances were solid and for a company that bills itself as a wrasslin’ company first, they had a more than respectable showing in the ring.

Check out our Power Rankings to see who got the most done in the ring this week.

5: Suicide: If you didn’t care about his return before, the match he had with Joey Ryan and Petey Williams may change your mind. Quicker than previous wrestlers who have wore the suit, this version of Suicide (possibly TJ Perkins, AKA Puma) is more Spider-Man than professional wrestler. A nice Tiger Suplex/Gut Buster combo finisher makes him that much cooler.

4: Magnus: Away from the mistakes of TNA Creative, Magnus continues to prove every week that he can be a dependable worker. But with no real finisher and not enough promo time, his chances for success remain limited. His possible reunion with Samoa Joe make an already crowded Tag Team division even more crowded. In reality, this guy should be in the running for the Television Title.

3: Kurt Angle: Even in a losing effort, Angle captivated for 15 minutes with Ken Anderson in easily the best match of the night. Even if he has lost a step, he’s still one of the best in-ring performers in TNA. While it appears his days at being in the title picture are numbered, Angle still has an incredibly important role in the future of the company.

2: TNA’s Tag Team Division: Who would have thought that TNA’s Tag Team Division would not only be the consistently most entertaining segment on the show every week, but also the best collection of Tag Team performers in the world? No one. And that’s exactly the reason why TNA needs to give them more time on the show. Simply put, TNA has four excellent teams that can all work in the ring and cut promo. Aside from Gunner, they have established stars in the division, all working within their comfort zone. That’s the main reason why it works so well.

1: AJ Styles: Sure, it was a typical TNA swerve and Styles could have been great in Aces and Eights, but it’ll be interesting to see where Styles goes from here. Again, his anti-hero status kind of makes his match with Angle at Slammiversary a confusing one, but it’s anything but predictable at this point.
