Impact Wrestling Power Rankings: Joe Joins MEM

While the matches weren’t off the wall exceptional, TNA got by this week with a nice combination of storyline and in-ring action.

Check out our weekly Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see who’s making the most of their red-hot summer in the squared circle.

5: Mickie James: Not the kind of performer to win via submission, James did just that this week on Impact, beating Velvet Sky with an unusual, Octopus Stretch/Deathlock variation. The cocky, yet lovable heel, she has destroyed Velvet Sky. In the book of heels, James is doing a wonderful job.

4: Chris Sabin: Is he still the X-Division Champion?Apparently not. Either way, this guy deserves a nightly spot on the card more-plain and simple. While he was once again solid this week, the triple-threat nature of the X-Division doesn’t give him as much of an opportunity to showcase his ability. He’s not yet ready for a run at the World Heavyweight title, who knows if he ever will be, but he’d have a great match with Bully Ray and the fans love him. Plus, who doesn’t love an underdog story?

3: Aces and Eights: Although they aren’t the dominant team they once were, they continue to fuel the creative elements of the show. The angle with the Main Event Mafia has also rejuvenated the once flaccid, aimless and boring Kurt Angle and Sting. For that alone, they remain an important piece in the company. Add in Mr. Anderson’s continued rebirth and Bully Ray’s prolonged World Title run and the club shouldn’t get counted out yet.

2: Magnus: Wow. A week after he beat Frank Kazarian, Magnus defeated another tough veteran in Bobby Roode. After he defeated Kaz with the Texas Cloverleaf, Magnus delivered the Michinoku Driver on Roode to earn the victory. With an expanding arsenal of moves, a plethora of energy and the support of fans, could Magnus make a deep run in the Bound for Glory Series? Right now, all signs point to yes.

1: Main Event Mafia: The Addition of Samoa Joe, like Kurt Angle last week, gives Joe more purpose than he’s had in years. With a member of the group in the Bound for Glory tournament, MEM is beginning to line up their ducks. This war is getting ready to really start.
