TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Drama Builds for Lockdown

With anticipation for Lockdown growing, this week’s Impact had a card that managed to build more drama for the event. The segments between Samoa Joe and Magnus, as well as Gunner and James Storm, as well as the Tigre Uno and Willow vignettes, fueled a show that set the scene all for what appears to be a damn good Lockdown show.

Can TNA screw it all up? Their track record isn’t great, but with roster-wide angles and plenty of different personalities at play including an edgy Sam Shaw/Anderson angle, TNA continues rebook in a way that makes the company more fun than it has been in years.

Kurt Angle’s Hall of Fame induction was a nice event as well, despite it being more of a time-filler than anything else. One of the company’s most beloved workers, Angle deserves the prestige more than anyone else in the company right now.

Matches:

Christopher Daniels and Frank Kazarian vs. Jessie Godderz and Robbie E/Zema Ion vs. TNA Tag Team Champions Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards: A good non-title match with plenty of offense and double-team maneuvers. The added stipulation was an intriguing one as both the Bromans and Bad Influence, with a win, would join Team Roode for the Lockdown main event. After the Wolves finished off Christopher Daniels with a Stomp, Robbie E and Godderz threw Richards and Edwards out of the ring to steal the win.

Ethan Carter III vs. Doug Williams: Although Williams delivered a nice amount of offense, Carter won with the One Percenter. After the bell, Carter applied a vicious Knee Lock on Williams.

Samoa Joe vs. Bad Bones: This kid had no chance. A Muscle Buster and a Kokina Clutch ended the match rather quickly.

TNA Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky w/Gail Kim and Chris Sabin vs. The Alpha Female and Lei’d Tapa: Although Rayne and Sky fought hard, Tapa and TAF were too tough. Tapa won with the TKO on Rayne. After the match The Alpha Female locked on the Full Nelson on Sky, but ODB made the save.

MVP vs. Bobby Roode w/Austin Aries as Special Guest Referee: This match was pretty even as both guys kicked out of each other’s Signature maneuvers. Aries turned his back on MVP when he nailed him with a Discus Elbow, which allowed Roode to hit the Roode Bomb for the win.
