TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Magnus Cries, Gunner Screams

Between some excellent matches,”The Hunt for Willow,” another Kenny King appearance and an impromptu table match between Robert Roode and Bully Ray, this week’s episode of TNA Impact Wrestling had plenty of drama and intrigue.

Magnus’ reign as TNA World Heavyweight Champion may be at its end, but there’s no telling who will take it from him. The announced Fatal Four Way match between Magnus, Abyss, Samoa Joe and Eric Young next week will be an amazing match that could change the face of the company.

On the surface, a card of just four matches could be seen as a bad thing, but the storyline development (including another Knux vignette) and build-up was solid, making for a much better show than expected.

Matches:

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Magnus and Abyss vs. Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards: The Wolves utilized quick tags to stay in the game, but Magnus used his signature offense to always stay a step ahead. Although his offense is nothing special, Magnus used Elbows and Suplex variations at the right time to keep the Wolves in check. That was until Richards used a Yakuza Kick and some high-flying moves to change the game. Richards and Edwards later used more Double Team maneuvers before Edwards won via a Single Leg Submission on Magnus for the surprising win.

Angelina Love w/Velvet Sky vs. Knockouts Campion Madison Rayne: A standard Knockouts bout until Sky DDTed Rayne on the outside to aid Love in the win.

Eric Young vs. Samoa Joe: An entertaining back and forth match where neither competitor established dominance over the other. After some back and forth however Joe won via submission in a way that can only be described as sudden and boring.

Gunner vs. James Storm: Gunner was all over the new look heel Storm early on. Using weapons and moves on the outside, Gunner was in control, but Storm fought back with strikes, weapons and his top rope Elbow. Gunner showed immense fortitude however and nailed a spear on Storm on the ring apron that sent both competitors through a table on the outside. Gunner added to the punishment with a massive Superplex through two steel chairs, but he couldn’t pin Storm. Fighting back, Storm hit two Super Kicks on Gunner, but he couldn’t pin him either. After Storm went for the beer bottle, Gunner nailed Storm with one of his own and finished him off with the F5 for the win.
